How to improve the Eggstravaganza next year?
Better advertising.

Better promote the egg design contest.

Suggestions:
Larger posters
More tables, chairs and pop ups? Borrow more from the neighborhood
More informal advertising, for the community potluck and holiday events. Advertised as a Community Potluck and Fun/Games
Other ideas: Have kids create some decorations ahead of time? So maybe for the 4th, we get some kids to create posters, banners for the tables? maybe a roll of butcher paper that would work as table covers which are easily decorated by kids.
How to advertise for LNHC?
Door to door flyers: We will attempt to have something delivered to neighbors for Sip, Savor & Connect
We need a more reliable way to advertise events. Unfortunately, signs often go missing or are taken down. For the Eggstravaganza alone, five signs disappeared. If we invest in a higher-quality sign, it would be disappointing for it to be damaged or removed.
One idea we're exploring is installing a shadowbox-style bulletin board as a central posting spot, but we’ll need to find a location where we have permission to put it up.
We are looking for more suggestions on how to improve our advertising so more neighbors are aware of what’s happening in the community.
Content for the first page of the May Newsletter
Neighborhood Watch? TBD
Spotlight Series
This is a fun way we’re highlighting members of our community who are doing meaningful things; whether it’s through creative projects, acts of kindness, or community involvement. It would be a short write-up (with input from the neighbor being featured) that we’d share on the LNHC website and newsletter to help neighbors get to know one another better.
Looking for people to spotlight. Please send suggestions!
Forming groups
Need someone willing to lead the group. Maybe they meet once a month or more. The group will decide on meeting times/locations and we will advertise on the website and newsletter the location, date, time to participate in the group.
Examples are: Walking, garden, reading, parent playdates (1st Wednesday could fall under this), running, hiking, cyclists, yoga, acroyoga, crafting, outdoor enthusiast etc.
Drafting community bylaws
We received over $200 in donations and it is important to have input from everyone on how that is spent.
Sending edits out for review.
Who is a voting member?
Need to define a mapped area for who is eligible to become a voting member. While our initiatives are focused on the Lake Natoma Heights neighborhood, we warmly welcome participation from those who live nearby and want to be involved in building community with us.
Should people donate to be a voting member? Maybe $20 to $40 per household or donate items/time?
Voting membership is annually renewed.
All leadership roles should work collaboratively to ensure mutual support, so that no single person is solely responsible for any one task.
Neighborhood Safety
A car hit a turkey at the corner of Las Encinitas and Walali, right in front of some kids. The kids said it looked deliberate, the driver did not slow, swerve or stop, and they were so sad. There is a speeding problem on Walali across several intersections heading to and from the Gated community at the end of Walali and the intersection of Walai and Las Encinitas.
We are looking into stop signs or speed tables on Walali. According to neighbors this has been an issue for years.
We are also investigating better signs encouraging people to slow down.
Neighborhood watch
As we’ve been expanding LNHC’s communication efforts we want to make it easier for neighbors to find helpful local resources. One of our goals is to include information about the neighborhood watch, such as who to contact, meeting dates, and any relevant links, so residents can stay informed and get involved if they’d like.
Garett is interested in helping organize and support this effort.
The neighborhood watch is an independent effort, separate from LNHC. Our goal is simply to help share information through our platforms so neighbors can stay connected and participate if they choose.
The next meeting will be held on May 14th, at 6:00 PM. We encourage everyone to participate. If you would like to attend, please email us for the details.
We appreciate your involvement in shaping the future of LNHC and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
